Brexit and online shopping

How is Brexit going to affect our shopping habits?

Many changes are expected from Brexit and people from various niches are being prepared. Deal or no deal UK is out.
E-commerce is also affected.
And why we care? UK online shops is one of the top choices of Cyprus based consumers. So what will change in the way we shop from UK online shops?

Two things: Taxes and Consumer’s rights.
Until now when shopping from UK we enjoyed tax free shopping because of the European free trade zone.
After 31.10.19, the date UK leaves EU, we may have to pay certain taxes and duties including customs duty, excise duty and VAT, every time we buy things from a UK-based e-shop.

As EU citizens we also enjoy certain rights as distance buyers. Such as the right to change your mind within 14 days, to be refunded within 30 days and 2-year guarantee for items. In the event of a no-deal Brexit, these rights may not be guaranteed. Having these in mind, consumers should be aware of the potential changes and are advised to read the terms and conditions of the each website after the Brexit.
